Arieso
provides optimisation solutions for shared wireless networks
November
12th 2007
Newbury, UK and Atlanta,
US;November 2007: First installation with T1 wireless operators
a success
Arieso, the leading wireless network planning and optimisation provider,
has successfully deployed its ariesoACP solution
with two Tier 1 wireless operators to achieve shared network optimisation.
ariesoACP uses a powerful optimisation algorithm with flexible architecture
that can simultaneously analyse
and create links between a multitude of networks and technologies.
The solution makes it possible for operators to maximise the efficiency
and performance of shared networks, and can also be used to optimise
non-radio applications, including backhaul costs.
The two operators deployed Arieso’s tools and processes during
the formation of one of the largest network sharing projects in
the mobile communications market. Arieso’s ACP tool was used
for enabling selection out of thousands of GSM and UMTS sites, with
both networks serving over 15 million subscribers. Arieso worked
closely with the operators to ensure that the activity was not detrimental
to day-to-day operation for either network. The ariesoACP solution
was also used to bring a number of planning and database tools together
under a single platform to make it easier for the operators to use.
ariesoACP enables efficient, fast and accurate network optimisation.
Using multiple, simultaneous modifications of cell parameters, Arieso’s
solution quickly works through thousands of potential network designs
to find a configuration that not only improves shared network performance
but also decreases the level of operational expenditure, thus freeing
up engineers time and the operators’ resources.
Shirin Dehghan, CEO of Arieso, commented: “Network sharing
is becoming an increasingly popular option to cut costs. This means
fewer base stations are needed, which is better for the environment,
and is more cost efficient for the network operators which can lead
to cost reductions for the end-users. However, it dramatically increases
the complexity involved in optimising each network with independent
business objectives. This is what we solve with our products.”
Arieso will be exhibiting the IIR Network Sharing Strategy Forum
in Prague in January 2008.

Arieso's
new software enables wireless operators to increase ROI on network
investment and improve financial control
October 3rd 2007
Newbury, UK and Atlanta, US; 3 October 2007: ariesoCMP provides
an objective, consistent and transparent approach to network CapEx
management
Network optimization and capital planning specialist, Arieso, has
launched its new ariesoCMP (Capital Management and Planning) software.
The software will give global wireless network operators the ability
to objectively assess the return on investment (ROI) potential of
proposed network capital expenditure. This will enable them to get
greater benefits from their investment budget to meet strategic,
financial and customer satisfaction objectives.
ariesoCMP enables the proposals of engineering departments to be
translated into financial benefits. Based on technical information
about the network and detailed subscriber profiles and distributions,
ariesoCMP creates a plan that allows engineers to demonstrate how
adding network equipment in a specific location will affect subscribers
and the amount of extra revenue that can be expected. This transparent
and consistent approach allows budget requests to be compared objectively.
Paul Turner, Vice President of Global Operations at Arieso, commented:
“The operators we work with have multi-billion dollar budgets
for CapEx each year and thousands of projects all competing for
a slice of the pie. On the strength of our network optimization
tools we were asked by Tier 1 operators to help bring greater consistency
and auditability to the way they grow their physical network and
the software we are launching today has done just that.”
In addition to improving transparency, ariesoCMP delivers consistency
of approach, making it easier for management to ensure spend is
in line with business targets. This will reduce the man-hours spent
on deciding which projects to approve by enabling the budget holder
to compare requests on a like-for-like basis. The software also
provides operators with an audit trail in order to track and assess
the success of investments in the network infrastructure.
Arieso has been working closely with Tier 1 wireless network operators
over the last 12 months to address the needs of this fast changing,
dynamic market. The wireless market is maturing at a rapid rate,
driven by new technologies and increasing numbers of younger subscribers
who are opting not to use a fixed-line service, relying wholly on
cell phones. In a market where voice ARPU (average revenue per user)
is declining, operators are compensating by deploying new technology
to support more data applications. ariesoCMP will help them achieve
the best possible ROI on this investment. It also makes their CapEx
more transparent and justifiable to investors and parent companies.
ariesoCMP is expected to bring significant budget savings to operators
by demonstrating which projects based on established technologies,
such as GSM, CDMA2000 and UMTS will deliver best return on investment.
It also allows operators to make plans for how and when it would
be best to incorporate new technologies such as WiMAX and Femto
cells into their networks.

Pocket
Communications signs contract with Arieso for optimisation support
August
1st , 2007
Atlanta
, Georgia ,US: Pocket Communications signs contract with Arieso
for optimisation support
Pocket
Communications, the US cellular operator, has appointed leading
network optimisation experts Arieso to optimise its CDMA network
to increase capacity and improve quality. Arieso will be implementing
an automated cell planning solution to improve network efficiency
without the need for immediate capital expenditure. The solution,
ariesoACP will be supported by experts from ariesoServices in Arieso's
US office.
Because
of its flat rate, unlimited usage service plan, Pocket's main challenge
is to ensure it always has capacity to provide customers with the
service they need, when they need it. By using ariesoACP, which
is based on a unique algorithm proprietary to Arieso, Pocket will
be able to achieve and maintain an increase in its capacity without
having to continually invest in additional network equipment.
Following
implementation, Pocket will be able to provide its current and prospective
customers with the ability to download more data and make more calls.
The company will need only to reconfigure or tune the network to
improve capacity. The ariesoServices offering has been benchmarked
to ensure it provides world-class solutions, supplying the breadth
and quality demanded by wireless operators.
Paul
Turner, VP Global Operations for Arieso, commented: “The ariesoServices
experts are looking forward to providing Pocket with consulting
services and to improving the quality of its network. Pocket has
a very clear mission – to provide its end-users with great service
at affordable prices – and Arieso has the expertise and solutions
needed to make sure Pocket continues to meet those goals.”
Amir
Rajwany, Executive VP and CTO for Pocket Communications, added:
“Arieso's ability to provide Pocket with a services solution to
meet its needs, together with the capabilities of its core product,
ariesoACP, highly impressed Pocket. We were especially impressed
not only with the technical ability of the tool but also the sophisticated
way in which the results are presented in a 3-D view, suitable for
us to use at all levels within our organisation. We are very much
looking forward to working with Arieso's consultants and to the
performance improvements we will obtain.”
Paul
Turner concluded: “It's not enough for us to just provide the tools,
we also recognise the need to provide comprehensive support to ensure
our customers can use our solutions to maximum benefit. If our clients
are not 100 per cent delighted and able to be referenced, Arieso
will not be successful. It's as simple as that. 100 per cent client
satisfaction is the goal we set for ourselves and is the most important
target we have.”

February
06, 2007
London,
UK: CEO
Shirin Dehghan Named Top Woman in Mobile
LONDON--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--For the second year running, Arieso has been named a Top

London
, UK: Michael Flanagan Leaves Bell Labs for Up-Start in Automated
Network Optimisation and Capital Planning
LONDON--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Michael Flanagan has been appointed the new CTO of Arieso.
He joins the Newbury UK-based mobile network optimisation firm from
Lucent Technologies in the US. Flanagan will be based in the US
where Arieso has recently opened its offices in Atlanta, and will
work closely with the firm’s other senior
technologists.
He is charged with bringing the company’s unique vision for
a new generation of optimisation technologies to life for Arieso’s
global customers.
An internationally recognised expert in network optimisation, Flanagan
spent the last 12 years at Lucent Technologies’ Bell Labs
in New Jersey, a hothouse for innovation inmobile communications.
At Bell Labs, he worked on many aspects of wireless communications
systems, ranging from channel element design to network design and
optimisation, and gained considerable international experience.
Welcoming Dr Flanagan, Shirin Dehghan, Arieso CEO, says: “Michael
joins at a critical time in our development, when he will be instrumental
in helping us consolidate our technology leadership and build on
our early successes with clients including Vodafone, Qualcomm, Cingular
and O2. As mobile networks continue to evolve in power and complexity,
we believe Michael is especially well placed to ensure that Arieso
continues to raise the bar on what network optimisation technology
delivers to the mobile industry.“
“This is a great opportunity to join one of the best teams
in the business,” says Flanagan. “Arieso’s founders,
Shirin Dehghan and Chief Scientist Dr Mohsen Koochak, are themselves
highly accomplished technologists. They’ve amassed an excellent
track record with some of the world’s biggest and best network
operators. So what’s next? Our goal is to embed customer satisfaction
and self-healing into the very DNA of the wireless network; operators
and their customers deserve no less.”
Flanagan received a BEng in Electrical Engineering from the Stevens
Institute of Technology, New Jersey, in 1990, and MSc and PhD degrees
in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology
in 1991 and 1995 respectively. While a National Science Foundation
Fellow at Caltech he worked part-time at NASA’s Jet Propulsion
Laboratory on Deep Space Network projects including the Search for
Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI).
